SKYSCANNER

In January 2021, during the throes of lockdown 3.0, I joined Skyscanner’s London team as a Freelance Senior Global Content Manager.

To say it was a questionable time to join a global travel company would be an understatement, but building our reactive news content stream was one of the most strenuous yet rewarding projects of my career.

The UK’s traffic light system was confusing and changed at a moment’s notice — making getting out into the world much more complicated.

That’s why we created The Travel Brief first for the UK, then the USA.

Additionally, I managed reactive travel news for 16 markets including Australia, South Korea, Russia, Germany, and France.

SEO Wins

Despite Skyscanner competing amongst traditional media giants, we remained on page one for key search terms such as “latest travel news.”

Skyscanner sat alongside the BBC, The Telegraph, GOV UK, The Independent, and The Sun in the UK and NYTimes and Bloomberg in the US until travel restrictions ended in the summer of 2022.

  • "The UK government could benefit from Skyscanner's advice."

  • "Skyscanner does a better job laying out the information in a helpful way and what it means for travel plans because they know how painful it is for an average person to book a trip and go somewhere. Life is short, so we want to spend it living a full life."

    — Skyscanner Traveller

  • "I appreciate the latest travel news and guidance are available front and centre on Skyscanner, with a clear explanation of what the traffic light system means for those travelling to or returning from countries."
